Even after being very less around my MIL,she never leave a chance to through a bad comment on me anyhow.?

I live with my inlaws including my FIL,MIL and SIL..My husband works abroad n comes once a month.Well,meanwhile i spend each day as a quest with my inlaws specially my so called backward minded MIL.Im a house wife n have one year old daughter.Ive quite reduced myself being around her to avoid her hurting remarks n foolish advises,still we have some interaction as afterall we r in a same house.She cant resist commenting me sometimes directly sometimes indirectly.As for e.g one morning we were all togethr for breakfast,she suddenly started saying loudly to her daughter,u know u,ll only be respected if u,ll not be proud like some socalled girls...she was looking towards me and everyone was quite wondered why she started this.Even my FIL told to stop it as she was saying it repeatedly like an insane.I pretended to neglected her but couldnt resist talking not to her later as my mind didnt accept her comments.This was just single example.She afterwards became very much kind to me But i didnt get fiendly to her as long i didnt feel like.then another day she told me directly that in our house there is a rule not to say sorry to anyone who is annoyed'Wenever my husband comes she keeps on back biting about me to him,even if he calls at home( as i can easily guess from his conversation with me afterwards).I want to respect her but again as soon as i forget the previous hurting from her she again makes some bothering remark n i again cant missbehave with her but feel really depressing n just stop talking to her much......I talked to my husband,he listens to me and he is very kind to me but just tell me to ignore ....Sometimes wen she remarks me infront of him i cant resist to answer her n i can see that he doesnt behaves bad but keep staring me with rage.Can someone plz giv me a guidance how to deal with this disgusting lady.I will be highly obliged.
