Filipinos: would you rather study in UP or in a university in US called San Jose State University?

One time I told my dad that I want to study in UP or where he took his law which is in UST and he said that it is best that I go to San Jose State here in US because a lot of filipinos would go to San Jose State University rather than the best and highest university in Philippines which is UP.
