What is the technology/process being used by Indian fashion designers in defining sizes for their models?

We often see during fashion shows that the models display well fitted clothings as if made-to-their-size. What is approach through which designers make these well fitted clothes specific to models. Do they use a common sizing technique or do they call each model , try a particular attire on them and then do necessary alterations so as to fit them.
